Reiki -
Back to
other treatments
The gentle art of Reiki draws on universal life
energy to benefit people of any age and in any state of health.
It offers comfort, nurture, and support for the good health and
balance of your mind, body and emotions. Reiki is Japanese; meaning
universal life energy. It is a non-intrusive method of hands-on
healing that taps into the energy, or also known in Japan as Ki,
Chi in China and Piana in India. Reiki is not a massage, hypnosis,
or a tool for diagnosing illness. Reiki is a technique that addresses
both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting
balance among all the body’s systems and the normal regenerative
processes of the body and mind.
What is Reiki treatment like?
You will normally lie on a table fully clothed however,
RMTs who practice Reiki often intersperse Reiki and Massage. Your
Reiki practitioner will explain everything to you prior to your
treatment. Reiki practitioners use little or no pressure, and no
oil is used. Being still and focused, the practitioner will simply
place a hand on or above your head, shoulders, back, chest, stomach
and limbs. The teachings say that the energy will flow through the
practitioner, to you. You will receive the amount of energy you
need to bring your mind and body into balance. The effects of Reiki
vary from person to person, however, most people experience deep
relaxation.
